We are Celebrating 70 Years

A Wonderful Journey. Mile by Mile and Smile by Smile sanborns 70th anniversary

2018 marks the 70th anniversary of Sanborn’s Mexico Insurance. It is an anniversary that makes us extremely proud and grateful to be a part of a company that has been helping overland travelers with their road trips to Mexico.

For the past seven decades, Sanborn’s has stood the test of time by providing high-quality insurance products as well as excellent customer service with a dedicated team of agents who are always willing to help you.

We wanted to take the time to look back at how far we have come. We wouldn’t have made it this far if it hadn’t been for you, our customers. It honors us that we continue to have your trust now just as we did back then. So from the past to the present and into the future, we are here to help you when you need us.

A Legacy of Service

We wouldn’t be where we are today had it not been for the vision of one man. Dan Sanborn arrived in south Texas from Illinois in the mid-1940s. He quickly noticed a need for convenience services for those traveling from the U.S. to Mexico.

What started out as a tourist and ticket shop in McAllen, Texas quickly grew. Soon, it even outgrew its original purpose—and location. Dan’s fascination with Mexican travel and culture led him to build one of the foremost travel agencies in south Texas which paved the way for him to enter travel publishing. With the development of his world-famous Travelogs, Sanborn’s became a trusted partner that could guide even the most inexperienced travelers through their south-of-the-border vacation.

21st Century Needs for All Travelers

Since our beginnings in 1948, we’ve gone through a variety of changes with the times, but one thing that remains the same is the importance of our customers to make sure they get the information and coverage they need when traveling to Mexico. With a lot of effort and hard work of our predecessors, Sanborn’s continues to be a leader in promoting road travel to Mexico.

Sanborn’s specializes in car insurance for drivers traveling to Mexico. We not only offer the necessary insurance but various forms of special protection as well. Since your American car insurance won’t cover you in Mexico, we’re here to help you get the coverage you need. You can get a policy to take care of damage to your vehicle, the required liability insurance,  unlimited legal representation in case of an accident, and more.

Since our inception, Sanborn’s has continued to grow and expand our services. Beginning in 1985, Sanborn’s has been owned by Travco Services, Inc., and we have agents all across the southwest—from California to Texas. Even so, we still haven’t given up on our family-friendly commitment to our customers. Wherever you come from, and wherever you plan to go, we’ll make sure you have the guidance and the insurance to take you there.

So to all our customers, agents, and employees, we say “Thank you!” Here’s to 70 more years of excellent service!
